Stainless Steel Tank VIDEO
How are Stainless Steel Tanks and Reservoirs Produced?
Stainless steel tanks are liquid storage containers commonly used in industrial and commercial applications. These tanks are manufactured using stainless steel material and are designed for storing or transporting liquids.
Production Processes
- Material Selection: The selection of the stainless steel sheet to be used in the production of tanks is very important. Stainless steel is resistant to corrosion and has the property of not reacting with liquids inside. The material selection (304 or 316 grade) depends on the environment in which the tank will be used and the liquid stored.
- Stainless Steel Tank Design: The design of the stainless steel tank is determined according to the type and volume of the liquid to be stored, storage conditions, and intended use. The dimensions, shape, inlet-outlet points, drain valves, and other details of the tank are projected at this stage.
- Cutting and Shaping: Stainless steel sheets are cut to the desired dimensions using special cutting machines (Laser/Plasma) and presses, and shaped by bending. The cylindrical or prismatic body of the tank emerges at this stage.
- Welding Process: The cut and shaped parts are subjected to welding by expert teams. Argon (TIG) welding is generally used to ensure the tank’s leak-proofness, integrity, and pressure resistance.
- Inner Coating (Optional): Depending on the property of the liquid to be stored, a special inner coating layer can be added in some cases, or smoothness is achieved by polishing.
- Tests and Quality Control: Leak-proofness, hydrostatic pressure resistance, and welding penetration tests are performed on the tank. These tests ensure that the tank is safe and functional.
- Finishing Operations: The outer surface of the tank is usually polished with satin finish or polishing. Welding marks are cleaned to give an aesthetic and hygienic appearance.
- Accessories and Additional Parts: Accessories such as manhole covers, level sensors, valves, connection fittings, and ladders are mounted according to the intended use of the tank.
- Transportation and Installation: The manufactured stainless steel tanks are safely transported to the place where they will be used, and they are installed and put into operation on site.
Usage Areas
The production process of stainless steel tanks may vary depending on storage and transportation requirements and can be customized for special applications.
Stainless steel tanks, which are used as liquid and water storage tanks, have a wide range of uses in many industrial sectors such as chemistry, food, pharmaceuticals, energy.
